Those with a keen eye may have noticed that my new album is now by me, and not Napoleon.
I’ve decided to release under my own name from now on. :-)
There’s a few reasons for this.
Firstly, since I started releasing as Napoleon all those years ago, several other Napoleons have appeared out there. I get regular tweets and posts asking me if I’m doing a gig in their town, and my music releases sometimes get confused with others’ output. Enough is enough. I’ve decided I need to have my own musical space.
Adding to that, I felt that I didn’t want to split my output as me/Napoleon based on genre/style anymore. It worked for a while, but I decided it would be much easier to put everything out as me, since everything IS me, whether it’s uptempo or downtempo.
Finally, I have many people who were fans of Bent not even aware of my work as Napoleon, but as myself, as it is much easier to track me down.
So there you have it. From this day forth, I shall be my own name! :-)
Finally, an update on the album – it is being manufactured – we do not have a release date yet (I will give it you as soon as I know!), but it will initially come out on vinyl with download codes. I am aiming to have extra tracks that will come with this version. Later, there will be a digital version.
“Harmonic Jigsaws Vol. 1” has been a serious labour of love, and reflects so much in what I love musically. It’s been a long journey finishing it. I am bursting for it to be out there. If you loved my Napoleon, Bent or previous Simon Mills releases, this is for you, I’m pretty confident of that. :-)
I’m very excited because it is the first vinyl album I’ve done since Bent “The Everlasting Blink” – all those years ago! The artwork is stunning and I’ll be posting more on it soon, since the back and inner designs are amazing.
Well that’s it for the moment. Big love x
PS: I have a couple of new projects along the way on top of this album; an EP, a couple of exciting collaborations, and an augmented reality app that will be released with Mash Machines (You have to check out their hardware). The latter will allow people to remix some of my own work on their smart device, or on a full blown Mash Machine table. So you see, it makes more sense for it all to be me!
