49 tracks in 2014!

2014 was the most productive year of my life so far. For those who don’t know about my ridiculous quest, I set out to release a four track EP every month.

It’s been an amazing experience, and a serious challenge, both creatively and mentally. It turns out that working to a time frame is actually a very positive and inspiring way for me to produce music.

You become forced to make executive decisions, you have to be organised in all of your ideas, and one of the most rewarding aspects: You can’t spend too long working on a track, so therefore you don’t get bored of hearing it!

It’s weird for me now to think that I churned out 3 hours and 54 minutes of music in 12 months.

Anyway, that was 2014. I’m due to release a vinyl in April and I’m working on several projects as well as my own, so stay tuned – and I’ll try to write more than once a year on this blog! (This is what happens when you give yourself heavy challenges!)

12 EPs in 2014!

I set myself a challenge of writing 12 4-track EPs this year, and I have to say that it’s been very rewarding so far!

As I type, I’m currently half way through finishing my third. Each one is based on a place, or memory of somewhere. The challenge is forcing me to finish off ideas, rather than store them on a drive, and I have certainly become more decisive.

I wasn’t happy with writing one album a year. My ideas change, my style changes – I’m not one to sit around! :-)

This also explains why I’ve not posted on this page for some time; I’ve literally been using most of my time fighting against the clock to get these releases out!

They are all hosted on my Bandcamp page.

Right, better get back to it!
